Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
